1.6 Check shaft or sleeve OD, box bore, box depth, and distance
to the rst obstructiontoensurethattheyaredimensionallythe
sameasshownonthesealassemblydrawing.
1.7 Check gland pilot and bolt holestoensuretheyareadaptable
totheequipmentandarethesameasshownontheassembly
drawing.
1.8 Handle all seal parts with care,theyaremanufacturedtoprecise
tolerances.Thesealfaces;rotatingsealfaceandstationaryseal
faceareofspecialimportance.Thesetwosealingfacesarelapped
attowithinthreelightbands(34.8millionthsofaninch).
Keep the seal faces perfectly clean at all times.
Single Outside Seal Installation
2 Single End Suction Vertical Split Case and Vertical

2.1 Lubricate the shaft orsleevelightlywithsiliconelubricant
providedwiththesealbeforeinstallinganysealparts.
2.2 Install the rotating face gasket O-ringintotheboreofthe
rotatingsealface.
2.3 Engage the rotating assembly consistingofthespringholder,
springs,andsealdrivewiththerotatingfacetoformtherotating
assembly.Besureanydrivepinsinthesealdriveengagetheslots
intherotatingface.HandlePTFEU-cupringsandgraphiterotating
facegasketswithextremecare.U-cupringsmustbeassembled
individuallyandnotpushedontheshaftorsleevewhiletheyare
partoftherotatingfaceorrotatingassembly.Avoidnickingor
pinchingeitherlipontheU-cuprings.UsebothU-cuprings,
theyworktogethertoformaneffectiveseal.
2.4 Install the rotating seal partsspringholderrstontotheshaftor
sleeveinthepropersequencewiththefaceoftherotatingface
facingtheimpeller.Useaslighttwistingmotionforanycomplete
rotaryunitcontainingO-ringrotatingfacegaskets.Placerotating
assemblyunitascloseaspossibletotherstobstruction,usually
theradialbearing.
