PROBABLE C AUSES POSSIBLE REMEDIES

   

Rotating part rubbing on stationary part inter nall y. Checkand CONSULT FLOWSERVE, if necessar y.

    

Bearings worn. Replace bearings.

  

Wearing ring surfaces worn. Replace worn wear ring/surfaces.

  

Impeller damaged or eroded. Replace or CONSULT FLOWSERVE for improved

material selection.



Leakage under sleeve due to j oint failure. Replace joint and checkfor damage.

 

Shaft sleeve worn or scor ed or running off centre. Checkand r enew defective parts.

  

Mechanical seal improperl yinstalled. Checkalignment of faces or damaged parts and

assembl y method used.

  

Incorrect type of mechanical seal for operati ng

conditions.

CONSULT FLOWSERVE.

    

Shaft running off centre because of worn bearings

or misalignment.

Check misalignment and correct if necessary. If

alignment satisfactory check bearings for excessi ve

wear.

    

Impeller out of balance resulting in vibration.

  

Abrasive solids in liquid pumped.

 

Internal misalignment of parts preventing seal ring

and seat from mating properl y.

Checkand CONSULT FLOWSERVE.

 

Mechanical seal was run dr y. Check mechanical seal condition and source of dry

running and r epair.

 

Internal misalignment due to improper repairs

causing impeller to rub.

Check method of assembly, possibl e damage or

state of cl eanliness during assembly.

Remedyor CONSU LT FLOWSERVE, if necessary.

  

Excessive thrust caus ed by a mechanical failure

inside the pump.

Check wear condition of impeller, its clear ances and

liquid passages.

 

Excessive grease in ball bearings. Check method of regreasing.

 

Lack of lubrication for bearings. Checkhours run since last change of lubricant, the

schedule and its basis.

 

Improper installation of bearings (damage during

assembl y, incorrect assembly, wrong type of

bearing etc).

Check method of assembly, possibl e damage or

state of cl eanliness during assembly and type of

bearing used. Remedy or CONSULT FLOWSERVE,

if necessar y.

 

Damaged bearings due to contami nati on. Checkcontamination source and replace damaged

bearings.

C. MOTOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS

   

Wrong direction of rotation. Reverse 2 phases at motor terminal box.

 

Motor running on 2 phases onl y. Checksupply and fuses.

  

Motor running too slow. Check motor ter minal boxconnections and voltage.
